Audrey Degray is the leading candidate for United States Congress in the 10th District, Massachusetts. Degray is the Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. She was appointed to the Board of Higher Education by Governor Baker in March 2011. She is a co-founder of three non-profit education innovation and reform initiatives and a lecturer at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Degray has served in several higher education board roles at Harvard, Boston University’s School of Public Health, and Clark University.
Born in Pittsburg, PA, Degray moved to Springfield, MA, at the age of 14 and attended The High School of Commerce. From there, she went on to graduate from Yale University. As Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, Degray led the movement to expand learning time for English as a second language (ESL) students, which established the successful groundbreaking partnership between the state and district aimed at accelerating success for ESL students.
